The Challenge
Demand for sports nutrition products can change significantly throughout the year.
Running, marathon and hiking seasons can create noticeably higher consumer demand, while retailers may also require larger replenishment orders during busy periods.
The two sales channels create different fulfillment patterns.
B2C generates a larger number of individual orders, while B2B orders are less frequent but typically involve significantly larger quantities of items.
The client therefore needs a fulfillment operation that can support both order types while responding to changing seasonal workload without maintaining its own warehouse resources around peak demand.
04
The Fulfillment Setup
Kube manages the client's Hong Kong inventory and supports both B2C and B2B fulfillment from the same inventory pool.
The setup includes:
- 01
Inventory storage
- 02
B2C order fulfillment
- 03
Pick & pack
- 04
B2B order fulfillment
- 05
Retailer replenishment
- 06
Shared inventory across B2C and B2B channels
- 07
Direct operational communication
Using one inventory pool allows the client to support different sales channels without maintaining separate stock for consumer and retail operations.
05
Handling the Operational Complexity
The main operational challenge is the combination of seasonality and different order profiles.
During busy sports seasons, B2C order activity can increase significantly at the same time that retailers require larger-volume replenishment.
This means the warehouse may need to handle more individual consumer orders alongside B2B orders containing much larger item quantities.
Kube adjusts warehouse manpower and operational resources according to the actual workload where practical, allowing the same operation to support changing demand across both channels.
When unexpected or last-minute requirements arise, the operations team communicates directly with the client to determine what can realistically be arranged.
This approach provides flexibility without treating every peak-season request as an unlimited capacity commitment.
06
The Result
The client can support both consumer sales and retailer replenishment through one Hong Kong inventory operation.
B2C and B2B stock does not need to be managed through separate warehouse setups, while fulfillment resources can respond to seasonal changes in workload.
This reduces the need for the client to maintain its own warehouse capacity and staffing based on the busiest periods of the year.
